Last week Edna Brooks-Pittman and Magan Smith served as our greeters. Angie Bingham gave our invocation.  We had several announcements and a new member introduction. Curt Peters recognized Walt Horner as a  Rotary "Gift to the World" for his work and help with the facility for the Outreach Meal Packaging.   Roxy Orr introduced Cindi Jasa who talked to us about her service work for families in Africa. The RISK bag was at $404 and Mike Langford  won a free lunch.

Welcome Madeline Moyer!
Last week Holly Hollenbeck introduced us to new member Madeline Moyer.  Madeline is the Community and Employee Assets Director for the Salvation Army Kroc Center.   She has been with the Salvation Army since 2009.   She is responsible for the human resources functions for 137 employees as well as corporate memberships, purchasing, and training.

Madeline is a member of the Human Resources Association of the Midlands and just completed her term on the Board of the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber. She is President of the South Omaha Business Association, and a member of the Omaha, Ralston, and Bellevue chambers as well.  She is proud to have been part of the community panel that vetted the Chief of Police of Omaha position.

Madeline is married to Jim and has a daughter and two step-sons and two grandchildren.  In her free time, Madeline loves to travel, dance, bowl, and read.  Welcome, Madeline!

Buy the Big Wheel THIS THURSDAY
Join us this Thursday at Champions for the Buy the Big Wheel Networking Event from 430-7.   Rotarians from clubs around the city will have booths showing off their businesses and products.   Please bring your friends and co-workers. This is a great opportunity to socialize and network with people from all around the city- you do not need to be a Rotarian to attend!   Do bring a stack of business cards to share with those you meet.

This year in addition to heavy appetizers and a cash bar, the event will feature prize giveaways all night for attendees including $100 to Gunderson Jeweler’s, $50 to Omaha Steaks, SIX KINDLE FIRE TABLETS, and many, many more.    You must be present to win.

We will draw for prizes all evening but Kindle Fires will be given away at 5, 530, 6, 615, 630, and 645 so everyone who attends has a chance to win!

RSVP is not required for this event- a sign-in sheet will be available for attendance credit for Rotarians.   We’d love to see representation from all 12 Metro-Area Rotary Clubs!

Winter Night Watch
Thank you to all the Rotarians who volunteered to serve meals and distribute warm coats, etc. during the Salvation Army Winter Night Watch. We just completed our second week of service.   A special thanks to Harry Reyburn for organizing our two weeks of volunteering.

Blue Badge
Congratulations to Dan Schnoes who finished all of his Yearling requirements and received his permanent badge from Yearlings Chair Holly Hollenbeck last week.

Rotary Softball
Thanks to those who have shown interest in a Rotary Softball team. Unfortunately, we do not have enough players to put together a team this year.
Rotary Book Club
The February Book is "Gray Mountain" by John Grisham and the March Book is "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls.
We have decided to now have the Book Club on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Bookworm at 90th & Center.
New members welcome- join us!
Participation counts as an attendance credit, the books are great reads, and it is fun to get together to discuss our various opinions on the books at the meetings!
