Last week Edna Brooks-Pittman and Jennifer Jirak-Brungardt served as our greeters. Dr. Sol Kutler hosted the club as we enjoyed wine, lunch, and cake in honor of his 90th birthday. The program featured a tribute to Sol, a toast from his son, Mark, and many singing Marilyn Monroes among many fun and funny moments.  The meeting ended with a poem that Sol composed in honor of the occasion.  (Please see below for the text.) The years have gone by and now I'm ninety

But I remember those years quite kindly.

I'm lucky to be living a good long life.

I've got three kids- had a wonderful wife.

Got lots of friends, both old and new

And some really special relatives too.

I've traveled the world, had adventures galore.
I couldn't have asked for anything more.

 

But I did- I got forty years of Rotary

And they were really good to me.

Each week I had something to look forward to

Good friends, lots of fun, and good deeds to do.

In the best club you'll find anywhere

With the finest folks belonging there.

 

That's why I thought it would be great

When it came time to celebrate.

That I'd like to share the joy,

To be the host of a party for you

The ones I love the most.

Volunteers are need for our bi-annual highway clean-up in Elkhorn.  Get some fresh air, make some new friends, and get a make-up! Sign up online by selecting the calendar link on our website then the date with the event.  You can also sign up at a meeting.

Congrats to Leah and Derek Richards who welcomed a new baby boy last week as well!  Their address is 4841 Pacific St., Omaha, NE 68106,

 

Condolences to the family of Lawrence Pollock. Lawrence is a former long-time Suburban Rotarian who passed this week.  A memorial will be planned for later this summer.
