New Member: Shawn Muhle
Shawn Muhle works as a Construction Project Manager for HGM Associates, a locally owned civil engineering firm in the Regency area. A proud graduate of North Dakota State University (Go Bison), she has spent the past twelve years in Omaha, with eight of those years at HGM Associates. Before moving to Omaha, she lived in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Membership Fees Due June 1
All membership dues are due June 1.  These dues are essential to keeping our club strong and active. They help support our regular meetings, service projects, district and international engagement, and administrative needs.

Everyone received a 25-26 dues invoice via email.  If you did not, let our Executive Secretary, Deborah Daley, know. Bring the completed form and your payment to a meeting, send it by mail or make it online by Clicking Here. The link only pays dues.  Any payments to the RI Foundation, Suburban Rotary Foundation or lunch sponsorship will need to be made separately at the meeting or by check.

As a convenience we do offer a monthly credit option of $33 a month.  If you wish to pay monthly or want to continue your monthly arrangement, please bring your credit card to a meeting so we can verify the card information and expiration date.

Many thanks to about the 30 percent of you that have paid.  June 1 is a real deadline so please expedite your action on this ASAP.
May 15 Highlights
A new part of our weekly meetings is acknowledging our Yearlings.

Patrick Combs talked about the need for the Weekly Classification of Rotarians in the engineering field.

Eric Dawson recognized Rotarians who received Paul Harris recognition for their financial gifts to Rotary.

Eric Dawson also shared his Gift of Rotary.  When he joined 19 years ago, he did so for the wrong reason--for business purposes.  What he really received was life-long friendships and a place where he could make a difference in people's lives.  He now has a sense of community and purpose.

Renee Rafferty discussed the expansion at Children's Hospital in Behavorial Medicine.  There is now a one-stop location for children from ages zero to 19.  She also thanked The Rotary Foundation for the $100,000 gift to help with training and recruitment of nurses.

Crestridge Bounce Houses
Volunteers from the Club helped with the annual end-of-the-year celebration at Crestridge Elementary that included bounce houses.  The windy weather brought the activities inside but everyone got into the act--even some Rotarians.  Enjoy this slide show.
Car Show Success
Crowds enjoyed Suburban Rotary Club's Annual Car Show May 17.  In fact, more money was raised than last year.  Thanks to the Rotarians who volunteered, the car owners who participated and the people who came to see the vintage cars.

Millard Shopping Trip
Celebrating the end of the year, Rotarians took ESL students shopping at Target.  A great time was had by all.  See the photos.

District Governor's May Message

Thank you for your commitment as Rotarians to our future! Please read more to see the exciting things happening in your District.

As we step into May with graduation celebrations, spring sports and new beginnings, I am reminded that May is Youth Service Month when Rotary clubs focus on youth services, including: Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) and Rotary Youth Exchange.

It is also the time of year when many clubs are awarding scholarships to graduating seniors. It is great to celebrate our commitment to empowering young leaders who will be our future leaders to carry the Rotary torch forward.

I would also like to highlight some of the achievements of our district. I was honored to attend the Lincoln South meeting this past month to present Rotary’s prestigious “Service Above Self” Award to Jenny Cardwell. This award is given to only 150 recipients annually worldwide to recognize members who fully embody our primary motto. Jenny, who served as club President in 2014-15 is so deserving of this award for her service to her club, the district and Rotary International. Way to go Jenny!

I am looking forward to attending some important events in the next month to recognize some milestone achievements of our clubs. I will be attending a banquet on May 2nd to honor the Nebraska City Rotary Club who will be celebrating 100 years as a Rotary Club. Then on May 31st, I will join the Seward Club as they celebrate their 100th year anniversary as well. A huge congratulations to these clubs for achieving these milestones and the impact that they have had on their communities.

I am looking forward to our Annual Meeting on May 8th where we will present next year’s district budget, elect new board members and ratify our district leadership team for the next three years. Thank you to the delegates who will attend for representing your clubs.

Yours in Rotary,
Tom Kerfoot, District Governor
