Last week we recognized several members of our club for their generosity with the next level of Paul Harris pins. Here's what they had to say about why they give: "The reason I give to the Rotary Foundation is because I am passionate about international service work and trust the work Rotary does with the donation. When I was recently in Uganda, we were taking patients to a hospital and a local, in a Rotary vest, we did not know was helping us. It's amazing seeing Rotary’s presence internationally, especially in third world countries. It is my pleasure to donate my time and money to serving others around the planet." — Travis Sholin +1 (donations of $2000) "Being a part of Rotary is more than just paying dues and having your name on a roster. It should also involve a commitment of time, talent, and treasure in a manner that would be meaningful to you." —Dan Wellendorf +2 (donations of $3000) "Giving to the Rotary Foundation is a great way to help the people in this world that lack the bare necessities in life that we all take for granted." —Eric Dawson +8 (donations of $9000) Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation this year. The easiest way is to go to the rotary website at myrotary.org and create an account to give online. A $100 donation makes you a 17-18 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow. The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the homeless foot clinic, meal packaging for local food pantries as well as international projects such as the girls' school in Afghanistan and the school for the Deaf in Nicaragua. You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Thursday and Jennifer will send it in for you. All first-time donors making a $100 donation will have it matched by the club.
