Last week Randy Wieseler and Jim Kapalis served as Greeters. Monique Devillier gave the invocation.   We had several announcements and presentations.  Magan Smith introduced Jeff Beck who talked about the Bluestone Development Company and their efforts toward conscious capitalism.  The RISK bag was at $586 and and George Miller won a free lunch. 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Tracy Rowland- 3 years and Rose Mary Hefley-12 years who were recognized for perfect attendance by Dick Miller last week.  

 

This year in addition to the District Grants, Global Grant, and Scholarship funds committed, the Foundation has granted several club grants for local projects.  Last week we met one of the recipients Jenny Johnson who used our $500 to help feed the hungry in Omaha.  Gifts for this week's Santa Shoppe were also bought with a club grant. YOUR generosity to our local foundation makes that happen!

Last week Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Roxy Orr several members for their generous support of the Rotary Foundation.   Bob Perrin as Paul Harris+7 for his donation of $8000. Curt Peters as a PH+6 for his donations of $7000, and Howard Epstein as a PH+2 for his donations of $3000. Thank you all of your support of programs that help people around the world live better lives!  

 

 

 

Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation this year. Right now we are at 61% participation.   The easiest way is to go to the rotary website at myrotary.org and create an account to give online.  A $100 donation makes you a 17-18 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow.

 

The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the homeless foot clinic, meal packaging for local food pantries as well as international projects such as the girls' school in Afghanistan and the school for the Deaf in Nicaragua.

 

You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Thursday and Jennifer will send it in for you. All first-time donors making a $100 donation will have it matched by the club.

Last week Rich Rowland acknowledged those Rotarians who helped others "make the best decision of their lives" by joining Suburban Rotary with some rubber duckies.
