Stories
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rotarian Bob Loos over the weekend. Dr. Loos had been a member of our club since 1981.  He was a very active Rotarian and an important part of our club music and never hesitated to lend his voice and guitar to our meetings.  He was a good Rotarian and a good friend and will be missed.

The visitation will be tomorrow at Heafey and Cutler West Center Chapel from 5-7. Rosary at 6:45 and vigil at 7.  The funeral Mass will be at St. Gerald's (9602 "Q" St.) at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.  Memorials to the family.   Please keep his wife Frances and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Her address is 6205 S. 79th Circle, Ralston, NE 68127.

Last week Jim Respeliers and Christian Kloster served as Greeters. Alan Stanek gave the invocation. We had several announcements and presentations.   We had a new member introduction.     Fundraising Chair Kathryn Schubert recognized the newest Scholarship Circle members. Secretary Nick Jasa and Hanging Judge Fritz Stehlik handed out some "clipping" fines.   Ward Peters introduced Dean Jacobs who told us about "living the dream" and traveling the world.  The RISK bag was at $519 and Cindy Kinsler's guest won a free lunch.

Last week Danny Dunbar introduced us to new member Brian Johnson.  Brian is the Director of Operations for retail, wholesale, and distribution for Kryger Glass.  He has lived in Omaha most of his life and entered the Air Force after graduating from Millard North.  He served in Special Ops and Aviation and participated in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Operating Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom just to name a few.  He served his country for 20 years.   He is also a UNO Graduate.

Brian is married to Shannon and they have a son.  In his free time, Brian enjoys golfing and watching his son play baseball. Welcome Brian!

We are running our Annual Suburban Rotary Charitable Foundation Fundraiser for scholarships and other projects through the end of March.

So far we have raised $28,658

Our goal is participation in any amount from all of our members. To make it easy, you can make a one-time donation in any amount or pledge monthly as little as $10 a month. A donation of $300 or a monthly pledge of $25 will make you a member of our 2015 President's Scholarship Circle. Scholarship Circle members will be recognized at our meeting with a certificate as well as on the slideshow, newsletter, and website.
