Last week Bob Perrin and Walt Horner served as Greeters. Roxy Orr gave the invocation.   We had several announcements and presentations as well as a new member introduction.   Nate Schwalb introduced Rich Juro who told us about his fascinating visit to North Korea.  The RISK bag was at $511 and and Tom Kerfoot won a free lunch.

 

 

Last week Dan Hosford introduced us to new member Kelly Adams.  Kelly is an Employment Specialist with Community Options Individual and Family Services.  He helps people with disabilities find and keep employment.

 

Kelly is an Omaha native.  He is married to Connie and has two adult children who live in Phoenix.  Kelly is a huge Husker fan and an active community volunteer. He is a mentor with Teammates, mentors at Siena Frances House and acts and directs in local theater. Kelly is also an inventor having created a product to help people with dementia.

Last week Roxy Orr recognized Dan Hosford as a Paul Harris Fellow +1 for his donations of $2000 to the Rotary Foundation to support programs around the world.

 

Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation this year.   The easiest way is to go to the rotary website at myrotary.org and create an account to give online.  A $100 donation makes you a 17-18 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow.

 

The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the homeless foot clinic, meal packaging for local food pantries as well as international projects such as the girls' school in Afghanistan and the school for the Deaf in Nicaragua.

 

You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Thursday and Jennifer will send it in for you. All first-time donors making a $100 donation will have it matched by the club.
