Last week Adam Nordstrom and Patrick Moylan were our greeters. Dan Schnoes gave the invocation. We had several announcements and presentations. Roxy Orr introduced Membership Chair Judy Cline who presented on the importance of membership and retention to Rotary. We also heard from Rose Mary Hefley and Yolanda Hoffman. The RISK bag was at $426 and Jared Bakewell won a free lunch.
Last week Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Julie Livingston recognized two members for their donations to the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation supports projects to eradicate diseases (esp. polio), provide education, sanitation, clean water, nutrition, and health care around the world including our club's projects in Afghanistan and Nicaragua.
Doug Bottger was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. When Doug was aksed why he gives to TRF, he said: "It’s simple. Someone in my position without a lot of money can make an impact internationally, for example with eradicating polio and the water project. $100 I can do. Collectively we can change things. Especially meaningful to me is polio eradication."
Kevin Welsh was recognized as PH+2 or cumulative $3,000 in donations. Kevin told us: “Rotary is a fantastic venue to put together talent, motivation, and finances. It’s about collaboration. Some of us have lots of money and little time, others have little money but lots of talent. All these people want to be involved and we can do so much more together than individually. Doing good in the world is what motivates me. What we can do together we cannot do separately."
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Roger Kupka former long-time member of Suburban Rotary. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. We were very sad to learn of the passing of Cheri Kutler last Friday. Her services were yesterday. Cheri was married to Rotarian Sol Kutler for 64 years, was well known by many club members, and will be sorely missed. She was always Rotarian David Kutler's aunt. Please keep Sol and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Sol's address is 17637 Jones St., Omaha, NE 68118.

MIKE KEMP
Mike Kemp was elevated to the position of Associate Athletic Director for Omaha Athletics in May 2009. He has primary oversight of UNO hockey and men's and women's soccer as well as facilities and game management.
During his 12-year tenure as head coach, Kemp guided UNO hockey from a fledgling independent to an established program with one of the best followings in college hockey. UNO has ranked among the nation’s college hockey elite in attendance from the start and boasts college hockey’s largest booster club. He concluded his career with a record of 201-220-53.
As the head coach of a start-up program, Kemp built a team that was a model of consistency in the always-tough Central Collegiate Hockey Association. In only 10 years of play, UNO had an average finish of sixth place in the league and earned CCHA home playoff games in eight of those ten years. Kemp also placed players on one of the CCHA all-league teams in eight of ten years. Both of those accomplishments are surpassed only by the University of Michigan.
Kemp may be best remembered for his commitment to community service. Under his guidance, the UNO hockey team was widely recognized for its contributions to the quality of life in greater Omaha. The highlight came during the 2008-09 season when the team held its “Leap for a Cure” fundraiser which raised $44,000 for brain cancer research at the Estabrook Cancer Center.
Kemp coached five All-Americans while at Omaha and had a total of twelve all-CCHA players in ten years.
Off the ice, Kemp is an avid runner and has competed in the Boston Marathon.
Kemp and his wife, Julie, have two daughters; Emily and Sarah.

Two weeks ago several members of our club attended the Rotary Zone Institute in Detroit for training beyond the club and district level. In honor of the event, the Spirit of Detroit statue was clothed in an End Polio Now t-shirt.
