Annual Scholarship Luncheon-starts at 11:30

Last week Karen Bremer and Alan Stanek served as Greeters. Mark Baratta gave the invocation. Roxy recognized Dick Miller as the "Light Up Rotarian".  We had several announcements and two new member introductions. Penny Koenig introduced Jackie Austad Nelson who talked about HELP Adult Services.  The RISK bag was at $126 and Vicki Kovar won a free lunch.
Last week Ed Fleming introduced us to new member Jeremy Carlson.  Jeremy is a architect with Slate Architecture working toward becoming a partner/principal in the firm.  He is currently studying for the architecture registration exams and hopes to finish by the end of the year.
 
Jeremy received both his Bachelor's and Master's from UNL.  He is married to Terri and they have a son and daughter.  Jeremy is active in the community.  He has volunteered for Camp Quality Heartland, a camp for kids with cancer and their siblings. He has also volunteered for  Bryan and Millard West high schools with a special design project. 
 
In his free time, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his kids' sports teams, and traveling on family vacations.

Last week Jeff Bakewell introduced us to new member Brian Mueller. Brian is the Customer Service Manager at Midland Scientific, Inc.  Midland Scientific is a national distributor of laboratory supplies and equipment headquartered in Omaha.
 
Brian is a UNO graduate and served in the National Guard for 14 years.  He is married to Katherine and they have a young daughter.   In his free time, Brian enjoys trapshooting and other sports.   Welcome, Brian!

The Suburban Rotary Charitable Foundation will be participating in Omaha Gives again this year on May 20th.  Any donations made during Omaha Gives will count toward your fundraiser for the 15-16 Rotary year.  Please note that these donations support our LOCAL Foundation for our scholarships and other projects NOT the Rotary International Foundation.  
 
We will be eligible for matching gifts and prizes based on total dollars raised, number of individual donors, etc.   Please mark your calendar if you'd like to participate.  More details and a giving link will be provided as we get closer. 
The annual luncheon where we show appreciation to staff from work has been moved to May 28th due to space restrictions at Anthony's in April. Please mark this date to bring someone to Rotary whom you want to appreciate. Details to follow.
 
Program will be Todd Baker from Baker's Candies.   Join us for this "Sweet" Meeting. 

One of our former exchange students- Donjeta Gjuka, from Kosovo is attending the University of Texas at Austin for her Ph.D in Cell and Molecular Science.  She was an exchange student with us who stayed with Curt Peters in 2008-2009.

Lunch sponsors are needed for sponsoring our speaker/student lunches for the month of May and June and the 2015-2016 Rotary year (pick your month!) Cost is $125 and includes recognition in the newsletters, website, and the meetings for that month.  Contact Jennifer if you'd like to be a sponsor.
