Congratulations to Mayor Jean Stothert who was recognized as Suburban Rotary's Omahan of the Year last week. 

 

Last week Tom Vann introduced us to new member David Radler.   David is a Commercial Photographer and has traveled around the world on assignment for companies including Eli Lilly, Citibank, Foot Locker, PetSmart, ConAgra, and Proctor and Gamble.  

 

David was born and raised in Northridge, California where he spent a lot of time at the beach.  After that he worked in LA and New York and then moved to Omaha,  He is married to Gretchen, a West Rotarian, and they have three daughters.   

 

David serves on the Board of the Anti-Defamation League and is a Rotary Reader at Skinner Magnet School. Welcome, David!

 

 

Last week Intl. Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Scott Keep recognized Jordan Walker as a Paul Harris Fellow for his donations of $1000 to the Rotary Foundation.   He also recognized Bob Swartzbaugh as a PH+5 ($6000).  The Rotary Foundation supports projects around the world to promote peace, literacy, health, and disease eradication.   

 

 

 

 

Did you know Suburban Rotary has a book club?  The June Book is "Dewey (The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World) by Vicki Myron with Bret Witter.  It is a  New York Times bestseller about an abandoned kitten named Dewey, whose life in a library won over a farming town and the world -- with over 2 million copies sold! (Booklist).  We will meet again in June at the Bonefish Grill on Tuesday, June 14.  Attendance credit is given when attending the Book Club.  :)  Questions?  Please contact Lisa Neu.

Prospect Hill Cemetery Weed Whackers 2021, Future Dates and Time

 

 

Want to help spruce up one of the oldest cemeteries in Omaha at 3202 Parker Street?  Below are the dates to come and pitch in for any period of time you can spare between 8 a.m. and Noon.  Bring your own work gloves.  If you have a rake, broom, weed-whacker or a favorite yard tool, please bring it and put it to use.  Any questions, please call Steve Scheuber 402-689-7669.  Volunteers at any of our service projects get a Rotarian at Work t-shirt.
