Last week Tracy Rowland and Randy Wieseler served as Greeters. Rich Rowland gave the invocation.   We had several announcements and presentations.  Nick Jasa introduced Dwayne Brown and Doug Rothgeb who had some fun with our members introducing them to the art of improv and talking about their group: Big Canvas Improv.  The RISK bag was at $529 and and Marlene Sullivan won a free lunch. 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Travis Sholin- 2 years and David Kutler -9 years who were recognized for perfect attendance by John Binderup last week. 

 

to Holly Hollenbeck for completing the Rotary Leadership Institute course. She was recognized by Past DG Rich Rowland last week.

Last week Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Roxy Orr recognized Karen Rolf as a Paul Harris Fellow for her donations of $1000 to the Rotary Foundation.  She also recognized Jim Matgen as a Paul Harris Fellow+2 for his donations of $3000.

 

 

 

Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation this year. Right now we are at 57% participation.   The easiest way is to go to the rotary website at myrotary.org and create an account to give online.  A $100 donation makes you a 17-18 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow.

 

The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the homeless foot clinic, meal packaging for local food pantries as well as international projects such as the girls' school in Afghanistan and the school for the Deaf in Nicaragua.

 

You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Thursday and Jennifer will send it in for you. All first-time donors making a $100 donation will have it matched by the club.

Volunteers are needed to work at the Winter Wonderland event for the spouses and children of enlisted service members on Friday, December 8th from 5:45-8:00 pm. Congratulations to Jared and Leigh Bakewell who welcomed baby Liv last week.  Their address is 10159 J. St., Omaha, NE 68127.

 

Here's a message from President Jared last week: Please excuse my absence today and thank you to Kathryn for filling in for me. The newest future Rotarian was born yesterday at 4:38pm. Her name is Liv Brighton Bakewell and her mother, Leigh, and I are already in love with her. She was 6 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 1/4 inches long. Mom and baby are healthy and doing great! Her great grandpa on her mother's side was a member of Downtown Rotary so once Liv joins Rotary (and makes the best decision of her life) she'll be a fourth generation Rotarian. I look forward to being back with the best club in the cosmos soon!
