Kathryn Schubert is Rotary District Governor for 2023-2024. Kathryn was raised in Nebraska. She graduated from Papillion LaVista High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration in 1994 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, with a focus in Commercial Banking and International Finance. Kathryn is a Certified Financial Planner® and a Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill Lynch. She started her career in Omaha upon graduation from UNO, and now works in both the Omaha and Lincoln communities. Together with her team, she provides sophisticated financial strategies and solutions for high net worth individuals and families all across America. In February 2022, Kathryn was named to the Forbes “America’s Top Women Wealth Advisors Best-in-State” list.
Kathryn is an active member of the Omaha Suburban Rotary Club in Omaha, Nebraska, and has been since 2009. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Patron of the Suburban Rotary Charitable Foundation. She is a past member of the board of Suburban Rotary and past President. She is also a past Trustee and past Chairman of the Suburban Rotary Charitable Foundation. She has served as Sergeant-at-Arms and has chaired both the Membership Development and Fundraising committees at Suburban Rotary. She is also a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute and has served as the Membership Chair and Chair of the DEI committee for District 5650. In 2021, Kathryn was nominated to be the District Governor for 5650 to serve in 2023-2024.
Kathryn lives in Lincoln with her husband, Craig, and 3 children: Zachary is 19 and will be a Sophomore at the University of Kansas studying Math and Physics; Annabeth is 17 and will be a Senior at Lincoln East High School; Isabelle is 14 and is going into her Freshman year at Lincoln East High School.. Together as a family, they spend a lot of time around the ice rink. Both her son and her youngest daughter play ice hockey. When they are not at a rink, they are either in a theater where Isabelle is active in dance or at a school where Annabeth is competing in Speech for the Lincoln East Speech team. They are also a musical family. Both Kathryn and Craig played instruments in the school band when they were young and now all three kids are in the school orchestra. Zachary plays the violin, Annabeth plays the cello and Isabelle plays the violin.

Born and raised in Omaha, Katie is deeply rooted in her hometown. She graduated from Millard North High School and pursued her higher education at the University of Nebraska (Lincoln), where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. As a proud member of the Delta Gamma sorority, Katie forged lifelong connections and developed strong leadership skills.
Throughout her professional journey, Katie has been an influential figure in the banking industry. With expertise in bank operational management, marketing and communications, as well as private, commercial, and mortgage banking, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence. Her extensive background and knowledge make her a valuable asset to the financial institutions she has served.
However, Katie's dedication to her community extends far beyond her professional pursuits. Currently, she holds positions on the Board of Directors for several organizations, including Angels Among Us, Millard North Baseball Inc, the Play Ball Foundation, the Nebraska Mortgage Banker's Association, and, of course, Suburban Rotary. This diverse range of involvements speaks to her multifaceted approach to service and her desire to make a positive impact in various areas. Recognizing the importance of personal growth and continuous learning, Katie has also been selected to join the Leadership Omaha Class - 46. This prestigious program will undoubtedly provide her with invaluable insights and connections to further enhance her ability to serve the Suburban Rotary effectively.
As the newly elected President of Suburban Rotary, Katie is eager to bring her energy, fresh ideas, and diverse experiences to the club. She aims to foster engagement and ignite a spirit of growth among the members. By encouraging innovative initiatives and creating a dynamic Rotary environment, Katie hopes to attract new members and inspire existing ones to maximize their potential as Rotary leaders.
Behind Katie's impressive achievements stands her support system: her loving husband of 22 years, Michael, and their two sons, Will (18) and Thomas (16). Together, they provide her with the love, encouragement, and strength necessary to pursue her ambitious goals and make a difference in the world.

Immediate Past President Kevin Welsh, President Katie Henry, and Zach Ziler are delighted to announce that Yolanda Hoffman, a dedicated and accomplished Rotarian, is returning to Suburban Rotary of Omaha as its new Executive Director. Yolanda's extensive experience, passion for service, and deep understanding of Rotary make her an ideal choice for this prestigious position. Yolanda is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute, a Paul Harris Fellow +5, and she has been a Rotarian for 15 years.
Yolanda's journey with Suburban Rotary began in 2009 when she became a member, and she considers it her Rotary home. During her previous tenure, she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills by serving on the board and chairing various committees, including Program, Interact, and Rotaract. Yolanda played a pivotal role in chartering new Rotaract and Interact clubs in Omaha and across District 5650, showcasing her commitment to nurturing young leaders within the community. She also made significant contributions at the district level, serving as the Health and Hunger Committee Chair and the District Chair for Rotaract and Interact under esteemed District Governors Rich Rowland, Bob Perrin, Roger Carell, and Roxy Orr.
Leaving her Health IT job at CHI in 2018, Yolanda embraced a new challenge as the Executive Director of the Omaha West Rotary, under the encouragement of Jennifer Jirak-Brungardt. Yolanda later became a full time member at Omaha West. Her dedication to growing the club's membership and her strategic approach as the Membership Committee Chair led to remarkable results. Notably, Omaha West Rotary became the sole club in District 5650 to consistently achieve positive membership growth year after year. Yolanda's talent and expertise were further recognized when she assumed the role of Administrator for the Rotary Club of Lincoln, the largest Rotary Club in the district. Through her contributory efforts, the club experienced substantial growth, expanding from 215 to an impressive 295 members as of June 30, 2023.
Yolanda's commitment to Rotary is unwavering, and she firmly believes in its power to effect positive change in the world. She considers Rotary's structure, extensive network, and unwavering commitment to service far superior to that of the United Nations. Yolanda's passion for Rotary stems from its consistency of purpose and the genuine desire of Rotarians to make a difference. She appreciates the evolving nature of Rotary, which is no longer limited to a specific demographic, but rather welcomes business leaders, emerging leaders, and community leaders from all walks of life. Yolanda firmly believes that American Rotarians embody the very best qualities of America.
Before her Rotary journey, Yolanda had a diverse background. Originally from the Philippines, she was a co-owner of a successful Internet Service Provider company, which she sold profitably upon moving to the United States. Prior to her business ventures, Yolanda worked as a Registered Midwife, a certified High School Teacher, and earned a Masters in Public Administration. Additionally, she spent two years studying in the College of Law. Yolanda's introduction to Rotary came through her involvement in Rotaract, where she served as the President of the Rotaract Club of Mati in District 3860.
We warmly welcome Yolanda Hoffman back to Suburban Rotary, knowing that her leadership and dedication will continue to elevate the club's impact on the community. With her wealth of experience and steadfast commitment to Rotary values, Yolanda is poised to steer Suburban Rotary towards even greater success. R. Gordon R. McInally is president of Rotary International. He was educated at the Royal High School in Edinburgh and at the University of Dundee, where he earned his graduate degree in dental surgery. He operated his own dental practice in Edinburgh until 2016. Gordon was chair of the East of Scotland branch of the British Paedodontic Society and has held various academic positions. He has also served as a presbytery elder, chair of the Queensferry parish congregational board, and commissioner to the general assembly of the Church of Scotland. Recently, James Reed gave us an overview of the Suburban Rotary Car Show financials. When all revenue is in, we will have raised nearly 44K in proceeds. Expenses were around 11K. The first 10K of profit will go to the Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus, leaving the club Foundation 23K in profits.

Congratulations to John Hoich who was selected by the Trustees to serve as Chair for the 23-24 Rotary year. Kevin Welsh is unable to serve on the Board of Trustees due to regulations by his employer.
Congratulations to John Ferguson who has been selected to serve a one-year term on the Board of Directors as Zach Ziler vacates his seat to serve as President-Elect. Congratulations to Angela Chaney who has been selected to serve a two-year term on the Board of Directors as Sara Huse as resigned her seat.
The Board approved a new Yearlings program at June's Board meeting. Bob Perrin and Rich Rowland will be in charge of this committee and the blue badge program for the 23-24 Rotary year.
In February of this year, the Board of Directors voted to remove the 50% attendance requirement for members to align the club with the requirements of the other metro-area clubs. See an excerpt from RI's website below.

The next book is: "Bibi: My Story" by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. This is a New York Times bestselling autobiography. Benjamin Netanyahu tells the story of his family, his path to leadership, and his unceasing commitment to defending his country and securing its future.
This book is 654 pages. We will split reading it for discussion between July and August. For July, we will read up to Chapter 32 at page 329.
