Meeting re-cap 6/22

Last week Deanna Fuller, Gary Beller, and Roger Utman served as our greeters. Cindy Kinsler gave our invocation. We had several announcements and a few "Brag for Bucks" Kathryn Schubert recognized our Past Presidents as well as accomplishments during the 16/17 year as we "Celebrated Suburban Rotary". The RISK bag was at $148 and Gary Stoneburg won half the pot!

Suburban Rotarian of the Year

Last week we honored Peggy Carrell as the Suburban Rotarian of the Year. Peggy was selected by the 4-Way Test Committee as representing all aspects of the test in her life. Peggy has been a very active Rotarian at both the Club and District levels for many years. Congratulations, Peggy!

Yearling of the Year

Congratulations to Jeremy Nichols who was selected as the 2016-2017 Dr. Sol Kutler Yearling of the Year. Jeremy was selected for his active participation in service projects and after hours. Congratulations Jeremy!

Suburban Foundation Recognition

Congratulations and thank you to Edna Brooks-Pittman, Gregg Bailey, Dan Lupardus, and Jack Heidel who were recognized with Charlene Tierney Citations for their donations of $1000 to our local Suburban Rotary Foundation by Chair Roxy Orr.

Rebuild Omaha

We will be working on our rescheduled project at the Bethlehem House on Saturday, July 8th from 9-2. We'd love to have your help gardening/landscaping on this day. Please sign up online (it's ok if you can only come for a while.)

Permanent badge

Congratulations to Madeline Moyer who completed all of her Yearlings requirements and received her permanent badge from Yearlings Vice Chair Dan Lupardus last week.

Volleyball players needed

The annual Baxter-Kenworthy sand volleyball tournament will be Saturday, July 22nd. ALL proceeds from this event go to our scholarship program. The Past Secretaries of our club have sponsored our entry of a team to play and now we need players- please contact Jennifer if you are willing to play and have some fun representing our club. (We need a captain as well.)

We will also be looking for volunteers as we get closer to the event.

Adopt a Plot Volunteers Needed

Adopt A Plot Project

Suburban Rotary has taken on an on going project to keep a section of Prospect Hill Cemetery clean and tidy all year long. Upcoming dates to show up between 10 a.m.-noon, to pick up litter, pick up sticks, sweep, weed whack or rake include the following Saturdays: July 8th, July 29th and August 19th. You do not need green thumbs, just a willingness to share two hours of your time. Contact Ward Peters to sign up for a Saturday that you can plug into your volunteer calendar.
