In Memoriam

We are saddened by the passing of Dr. Sol Kutler who was a member of our club for 40 years.  Dr. Sol was known for his singing, smile for everyone, and wonderful sense of humor.  Sol was a Past Secretary (80-81), Past President (87-88), a District Cadwallader Award Winner (1984), and founder of our Yearlings program and the Yearling of the Year Award.  He did humanitarian work around the world both on his own and through Rotary. (Click here to read a story about him by Mike Kelly)    We will miss our good friend Dr. Sol.   The following is a poem that he wrote and then recited for us at his 90th birthday party in May.  We are fortunate to have celebrated with him.

The years have gone by and now I'm ninety
But I remember those years quite kindly.
I'm lucky to be living a good long life.
I've got three kids- had a wonderful wife.
Got lots of friends, both old and new
And some really special relatives too.
I've traveled the world, had adventures galore.
I couldn't have asked for anything more.

But I did- I got forty years of Rotary
And they were really good to me.
Each week I had something to look forward to
Good friends, lots of fun, and good deeds to do.
In the best club you'll find anywhere
With the finest folks belonging there.

That's why I thought it would be great
When it came time to celebrate.
That I'd like to share the joy,
To be the host of a party for you
The ones I love the most.

Dr. Sol Kutler- May 18, 2017

Meeting re-cap 9/14/17
Last week Magan Smith and Angeline Larson served as our Greeters. Deanna Fuller gave our invocation. We had several presentations and announcements.  John Marburger introduced District Governor Tom Cardwell  who talked about his vision for the Rotary year. Suburban Rotarians had some fun welcoming him to "the jungle" aka Suburban Rotary.  The RISK bag was at $267 and someone won a free lunch.
